My son was ecstatic upon finding out I was gifting him a Daisy BB Gun for the holiday season. He was jumping up and down, screaming, “can I get the one with the scope, does come with bullets, and can I get the goggles”? I told him when I was about ten, my Grandfather got me a BB gun, a cool Christmas gift. A few years earlier, my Grandfather had also gotten my older brother the same BB Gun. My parents were okay as long as I kept it at my Grandfather’s house. Once at my Grandfather’s house, he told me where the key was to the locked drawer where the BB gun was stored. After dinner, my brother and I excuse ourselves and acquired the BB guns. Then my brother and I got to work shooting at targets outside on the patio. The patio was at the end of the corridor, which was dark, quiet, and ideal for shooting the BB gun. Since the BB gun made only a short throbbing noise, we wouldn’t disturb anyone. We would shoot about 50 pellets each. Then, we would count the shots on the targets, keeping score to see who was the best shooter. After that, is was pretty late and time to go to bed. The tradition now continues from my Grandfather to my brother and his children and from myself to my son.
While purchasing the Daisy BB gun at Bass Pro Shop, we stopped by their annual Santa’s Wonderland area, where the kids can sit with Santa and tell him what they want for the holidays. Not only can you visit Santa, but there are several areas you can experience while there. My son and I, immediately visited the bow & arrow section and the miniature shooting range. The bow & arrows and the miniature range are perfect for young boys to practice their aim. There are four targets, try shooting them all in 5 second.
After showing my son how to operate the BB gun within Santa’s Wonderland Daisy Christmas display, we went over safety guidelines when handling BB guns. I explained to my son that is extremely important to remember to wear Daisy Protective Goggles at all times to protect his eyes. I also made sure to purchase Daisy BB Gun ammunition to avoid any operating complications. The majority of those who attend the outdoor or store event and shoot at the ranges are first-time shooters.
While at Bass Pro Shop and within Santa’s Wonderland, we found the Daisy BB Gun 880 Model, located on an end cap.
On the drive home, my son and I could not await to get home and review the safety guidelines we learned from Daisy’s 10 Lesson Shooting Curriculum for BB guns. My son was calm and used all safety tips we discussed while shooting the Daisy BB gun. I must say, he did very well for his first time. We did a few more sessions in different positions, so he can acquire a comfort zone handling the BB gun. The sitting position was very comfortable for my son, all the areas that require support while holding the Daisy BB gun were in place. We took a few minutes to adjust the scope. Following the Daisy BB gun manual, it only took a few turns of the scope’s screw, aligned the sights, and we were set to go.
The laying down position was my sons favorite, the BB gun, rested perfectly on his right shoulder and the forward part of the BB gun was well supported aligned toward the targets.

A bb gun is an amazing gift because it teaches so much to children. Not only how to shoot but of responsibility to keep the gun clean and well cared for. As well as encourages them to save money for ammo and targets. I have two daughters that love to shoot more than play Barbie! 🙂
