Parents kids’ safety is their #1 concern, whether they are with you or not. This year has been a very challenging year for everyone, especially for my eldest son. Bullying can take a toll on everyone because bullying does not only affects the victim, it affects everyone in the family. Bullying is something we hear mentioned on the news or from someone who is has gone through it. However, you never think that your kids would face those challenges when you are not around. This year not only did our oldest son faced that head on, but we discovered that our youngest son has also been affected by this. Since it is my wife’s and my duty to keep our children from any kind of distress, we made the decision to transfer them into a new school mid-way through the year. The adjustment of being the new kid in a new school is hard, but thankfully, the school our sons are attending now has a different overall focus on how to deal with bullying and its effects. #DataAndAMovie #CollectiveBias

Yes, it is hard being the new kid in a new school and yes, bullying can take a toll on your self-esteem. However, they were lucky that not only they had our full support, but they could rely on their after school activities to escape the stress of the situation. And the staff, faculty, students, their safe and adequate learning environment, and a few other steps in our plan of action have made their transition into the new school a smooth experience.

Our oldest son entered middle school last August and if you have experienced this, you know how emotional and scary this time can be. Entering middle school, or as my wife puts it, “the danger zone” is not only a time of transition but the time when pre-teens enter adolescence. Because of this, we decided to purchase a new cell phone and new plan service for him to be able to communicate with us at all times. Unbelievably, thanks to that decision, we were able to communicate with him through many of the days when he needed us the most. Now that they are in a new school, I know they will NOT face those same challenges. However, for my own peace of mind, I want to make them as comfortable as possible by they knowing that I am just a phone dial away.

Just after they started at the new school, I made the decision to purchase a new phone and a new service plan for our youngest son. I have been a Walmart Family Mobile subscriber for years, so it was a no-brainer going to my local Walmart to purchase his new phone and to subscribe to Walmart Family Mobile Plus. Walmart Family Mobile Plus, comes with Unlimited Talk, Unlimited Text, Unlimited Data service plan with up to 10GB of 4G LTE Data, plus a free movie on VUDU every month, for $49.88 per line. After considering a few of the options available at my local store, I decided to get him a smartphone and to upgraded myself to the LG G Stylo phone, which brings a cool stylus pen that I can use to write my school notes and add reminders of their school activities. Plus, it was only $179.00 (was $199.00). Besides getting a new phone and a new plan, I am thrilled that the family gets to enjoy a movie on our weekly movie nights by streaming our free VUDU movie on our smart TV. Dad is winning!

Now that both of my kids are at their new school, and have transitioned quickly past being the new kids on the block, while both having an upgraded Walmart Family Mobile Plan, they can finally focus on their academics instead of worrying on being bullied. Have your kids experienced bullying before? How did you deal with the situation and how was it resolved? Please share with us your experience by dropping us a note in the comment section below.
