I am a self-proclaimed movie buff. If I could, I would watch movie after movie on a daily basis, of course, that’s not possible with school and kids to watch after. Hence the word, if I could… My wife and I met back in college and back then, our favorite pastime was going to the theater to watch a pair of movies several times a week. As time went by and our family grew, our movie outings diminished almost to a complete halt and that’s just because you know how expensive going to the movies can be for a party of five. Anyways, to find a solution to this, we have turned to DVDs, Blu-Rays, and streaming movies via our smart TV. Nowadays, going to the theater is a special treat for the family, but watching a movie from the comfort of our sofa is a weekly happening. And just because our entertainment is happening from our home, it doesn’t mean that the experience has to be any different than at the actual movie theater.
Our home movie theater experience comprises of a multi-speaker surround sound system, comfortable sitting, blackout blinds, smart TV, and lots and lots of snacks to enjoy while, during and after the movie. At our home movie theater, snacks are not only distributed at the beginning of the movie but throughout it. We usually start with a small bag of homemade popcorn, then we move onto sweets such as mini chocolate candy, gummy bears, etc, and to wash all of it down we go with juice and to wrap it up, we all get a bottle of water. How does that sound to you? Do you think we get the job done?
Family fun movie night
Not only do we get to enjoy a movie together, but the kids have fun and we don’t break the bank while at it. Lately, however, both the family and I have been somewhat busy and haven’t had the opportunity to host one of our weekly family fun movie night. But this week, this will change. I am proud to report that after having had a rough start to the school year, both my boys are now thriving at their new school and my little princesa (princess) has passed her first school year with flying colors. As a dad, it is important to celebrate all of their successes in a big way. So seeing how they are thriving and improving their grades on a daily basis, prompted me to speak to my wife about surprising the kids with a family fun movie night and something more.
While I was shopping for all the needed supplies for our family fun movie night, I stopped by my local Walmart’s electronics department, not going to lie, I pass by there every time I go to Walmart and that’s weekly. Don’t judge me, my entire family and I are gadget obsessed, especially the kids. If you have been following me for a while, you are aware that I have been a Walmart Family Mobile subscriber for years, so stopping by the electronics department to check out the new Walmart Family phones and new Mobile services is a no-brainier. Recently, Walmart introduced a new Family mobile phone service, called Walmart Family Mobile Plus. Walmart Family Mobile Plus comes with Unlimited Talk, Unlimited Text, Unlimited Data service plan with up to 10GB of 4G LTE Data, plus a free movie on VUDU ($7 value) every month, for $49.88 per line. The more data the better and to boot, a free movie? Can’t go wrong with that.
If you are not a Walmart Family Mobile subscriber, now more than ever, Walmart makes it even easier to acquire their services. For the first time ever, the Walmart Family Mobile starter kit is now on rollback for $19.88 (from $25). And since Walmart Family Mobile bills you later, now you can save even more money when it comes to setting up your service because all you need to pay to get started is the $19.98 starter kit. Cool, right? Well, since we are so gadget obsessed, I decided to upgrade my children’s phones to the Alcatel Fierce XL for $99.00 (Rollback from $119.00) and the Cool Pad Rogue for $19.88 (Rollback from $39.83). Plus take advantage of the free VUDU movie to stream it on our smart TV during our family fun movie night. Can you say, win-win for dad? I think so. Now, I want to hear from you. How do you make family fun movie night special? Let us know by dropping us a note in the comment section below.
