The holiday season is my favorite time of the year. Explanation, I usually take the entire month of December off from work to spent quality time with my wife and the kids. Entertaining three young children that are more technology savvy than I was growing up, is sometimes a bit tricky. My kids love electronics and if it were up to them, they would be glued to their tablets all day long. Although, we encourage them to play together, draw, read and play outside with good behavior, they do get to play on their tablets. While they are playing on their tablets, they are constantly asking if they can download the newest app or game available. Isn’t that fun?

Growing up in an era where the cool device to have was the Beeper, phrases such as “dude laters” and “Beep Me” where the norm. Within the cool crowd, the “it” thing was to carry, “the brick”. For us seasoned folks, that means a large heavy impractical cellular phone that actually is the size of a brick. The antenna stuck out of any pocket in you pants and the fees to pay for that line, were beyond ridiculous. And of course, no apps to speak of, how time changes!

In today’s technologically advanced world, electronic devices are essential. Not just for fun, but to make your life a bit easier. Shhh, don’t tell anyone, however, I rather have fun with my electronic devices then to use them for practical reasons. After all there are so many amazing apps out there. A few weeks ago, I download the New Intel Avatar App for me and the kids to have a bit of fun with it. After introducing the kids to the New Intel Avatar App, all I heard was “did you get that one?”, then laughter. Then a few seconds later. “Oh, send me that one, I gotta send that to my friend” and it keep going all night long. Our favorite feature of this app is the Facial recognition tool. However, the kids are enchanted with the voice capture and recording feature, it’s their favorite. They speak and record their message, implement facial recognition, and send me the message, hilarious. Trust me, this will not be the grinning type, it’s the shouting laughter, absolutely comical.

This is one of the simplest app I have ever used. All you need to do is :

  • Step 1. Download the App to your smart phone.
  • Step 2. Choose your favorite avatar(s) in the “My Avatars” section (see image below).
  • Step 3. Then try it & have a ton of fun using it.

Get animated and let your imagination roll. Use your facial expressions and your avatar will imitate what you do. The smart phone uses the installed camera and the Avatar does exactly what you do on your face. If you raise your eye brows, blink, smile, frown, the Avatar does it. Fun & cool, right? Fun for the entire family, it only took my younger child, 60 seconds to get the hang of it. Not bad for a 3-year old!

The kids favorite usage of this app is texting. They are constantly deleting other data so they can keep the New Intel Avatars on their phones. I sent my Mom a video using the app’s text option, and when she called me back, all I heard was laughter and mumbling. We all downloaded the Intel Avatars app and keep sharing funny videos back and forth. This is an app that will never boar you.

If you are not familiar with the Intel Avatar App or simply haven’t downloaded yet, then you should definitely try it. I guarantee you, you will love it. Now, what are you waiting for? Go ahead, download the app and grab the kiddos and start having fun with them. Do come back and share with us your funny videos using your avatar here or via social media using the #GetPocketAvatars.

Ha! I remember beepers quite well. Now everyone in our house has their own tablet and my son wants a laptop. Glad you kids have had so much fun with the app! #client
