The Baccalaureate Accomplishment
It has been nearly three years since I began my college journey and this part of this chapter will conclude in a matter of weeks. In this new begins, I want to share with you some of the lessons I have learned down this path.
As a parent of three, and seeing my kids’ academic accomplishment, even though they are very young, just brings tears to my eyes of how proud I am of their efforts, especially from my teenager. These efforts have translated into my motivation, drive and optimistic dedication to finally complete my baccalaureate degree in my mid-forties.
As you have been following along throughout my college journey, one aspect that has kept me motivated through this three-year span in college to complete my bachelor’s degree has been my children’s academic motivation. The moment we get back from school, they eagerly start doing their homework, right after a quick snack. All three of them do not stop until they have completed all they have required homework for that day. What astonishes me more, is that all three spend a little more time to advance to complete part, half or even all of the homework for the next day. They do this on their own. What additional motivation does a parent need? This has been the abundant thrust propelling me to continue on my college journey.

My children’s natural drive in getting good grades has also carried me along in the right direction. Managing to register and taking the few prerequisite and core courses specified in the program I chose, and by sticking to it and staying focused to complete and pass each class per semester with the best grade possible, at least this was the goal, has brought my inconceivable dream to finish a degree post-high school a reality.
In my opinion, the most impact-full element that has reflected my performance academically in my college journey has been my children’s optimistic dedication. Their optimism in showing confidence and the hope of acquiring the best grade possible per subject and actually accomplishing this every nine weeks for past three years is the sole reason I have earned a 3.9 GPA in the baccalaureate program. Without this optimism, honestly, I don’t believe I would have earned such a high GPA.

In retrospect, as I have now completed my 4-year bachelor’s degree, simply by watching and absorbing my children’s optimistic dedication, motivation and drive to excel in their early academic passage, has been the fuel of my willingness and self-initiation to complete my Baccalaureate Degree in Supervision & Management from MDC. In turn, I now implement optimism, dedication, motivation & drive in supporting and helping my children by providing, the tools and anything they need to succeed in their early academic careers.
