Father’s Day is this Sunday and this got me thinking, what is the best Father’s Day gift I can give my dad or that my kids can give me? Let’s be honest here, most of us can not afford to purchase high-end ticket items for our fathers and as a father, I cannot expect to receive them either. Besides that, there isn’t anything I can get my dad on father’s that he doesn’t already have. As a dad myself, the simpler gifts I receive from my kids are the ones that stay with me the longest. If you are struggling with what to get your Father for father’s day, I have put together three simple gift ideas that any dad will be happy to receive.
The Best Father’s Day Gift: From a Dad’s Perspective
Idea #1: Practicality. My dad already has everything you can think of under the sun. So, this Father’s Day, I am going with something practical and gifting him some cash. This way, I know he will purchase what he wants anywhere he prefers. I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t want this great gift idea, do you? If you are still not sure what to get your dad, go with a practical gift, like cash, and you will never go wrong.
Idea #2: Quality time. This idea is perfect for your dad or to receive as a dad. As a child the best part of Father’s day was spending time together with my father and my brother. We spent the day watching soccer games on TV and then to the park for a quick soccer game, only us boys. I am sure all dads would agree that spending quality time with their kids is the best way to spent your Father’s day.
Ideas #3: Family time. In my opinion, the best Father’s day gift I can receive is family time. This is the reason that in our family, the best way to celebrate this occasion is by going out to dinner. This is a great way to catch up with the extended family and to celebrate with uncles, aunts, grandfathers, grandmothers, your significant other and the kids. Sharing meals with my family, is my favorite past time and it is the best way to unite all generations in your family.
Practicality runs deep in our family, which gears me away from buying the same old father’s gifts. Nevertheless, it doesn’t really matter what gift I get from my wife and/or kids, because I know they were given to me with love and appreciation.
