The Good Dinosaur Movie Review, more at DadBlogsAbout.com

The newest film from Disney and Pixar hits theaters everywhere on November 25. I had the opportunity to attend a pre-screening of The Good Dinosaur and to describe the experience in simple form, I have this to say. The PG-rated movie with its photo-realistic settings, funny lines, emotional and becoming-of-age story lines, is stunning and the perfect family movie.

The Good Dinosaur Movie Review

First things first, as you may know, every Pixar film is preceded with a short film. In this case, the short playing in front of The Good Dinosaur is Sanjay’s super team (see a sneak peek below). I have to admit that while the short was playing, I kept turning my head to see my kids’ reaction to the short and I was pleasantly surprised by how invested they were. The short is spectacular (with a capital S), the graphics and the story line are perfectly executed. Personally, I cannot wait to see what Pixar and Director Patel have in-store for us in the future.

Sanjay’s Super Team – Clip 1

In “Sanjay’s Super Team,” the new short film from Pixar Animation Studios, accomplished artist Sanjay Patel uses his own experience to tell the story of a young, first-generation Indian-American boy whose love for western pop culture comes into conflict with his father’s traditions. Sanjay is absorbed in the world of cartoons and comics, while his father tries to draw him into the traditions of his Hindu practice. Tedium and reluctance quickly turn into an awe-inspiring adventure as the boy embarks on a journey he never imagined, returning with a new perspective that they can both embrace.

About The Good Dinosaur

Going back to the main attraction, The Good Dinosaur tells the story of a young Apatosaurus dinosaur named Arlo. Arlo lives with his parents (voiced by Jeffrey Wright and Frances McDormand) and his two siblings. After a family tragedy, Arlo (Raymond Ochoa) is washed downriver, he ends up bruised, battered and miles away from home. Good fortune shines on Arlo when he meets Spot (Jack Bright), a Neanderthal boy who offers his help and friendship. Together, the unlikely duo embarks on an epic adventure to reunite Arlo with his beloved family.

 What I liked

As I said above, the movie’s settings are extremely realistic, Pixar did hit it out of the park with the graphics that were implemented. I really enjoyed Arlo & Spot’s friendship story, which leads to some funny comedic adventures. As far as the kids go, they enjoyed the funny lines and situations. The movie is great and yes, they are times when you will feel emotional. However, your entire family will leave the theater liking the movie a lot. Remember the movie opens on today, November 25, so take this holiday weekend and take the kids to see it. Be sure to come back and let us know what you liked or disliked about the movie by dropping us a note in the comment section below.

The Good Dinosaur Official US Trailer 2

“The Good Dinosaur” asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo (voice of Raymond Ochoa) makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of. Directed by Peter Sohn and produced by Denise Ream (“Cars 2”), Disney•Pixar’s “The Good Dinosaur” opens in theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.
