Every student, parents and teachers looks forward to the Summer break. Don’t get me wrong, I am glad the kids go to school and learn, however, a break after ten months in school is well deserved. The best part of the summer break are the fun family adventures. Finding fun activities for a party of five, especially for children is a challenge. The trick is doing so on a limited budget. It just takes a bit of planning and research while spending as little money as possible.
This summer’s activities included relaxing at our home. The best part for both the parents and the kids was getting up late every day. There was no rush in getting things done. Whether it was celebrating a birthday for one of our kids, bike riding, or driving to a close destination, there was no rush. A little soccer in the mornign, then a quick bike ride in the early afternoon after lunch, if it was not raining of course. Then, wrapping up the day with thirty minutes of homework. Once the homework was done, then they could play on their play stations/tablets, etc. until late bedtime, chillaxing.
Now that the kids have completed their summer packets, it was time to go shopping for their school clothes. This year school shopping includes all three kids. My little princess is starting pre-school. Every year, we purchase extra clothes and supplies for the current and upcoming school years, in case we missed something. Comfortable clothes for school is key, brings a world of comfort to me as a parent. We have now organized all the school supplies for each of our three kids. Once the sales begin, we will stuck up as usual for next school year.
It actually saddens me that the summer break is over. On the other hand, it does brings a sense of optimism the kids are entering a new grade and they will see their old friends and make new ones. As a parent, you want to be with your kids when they need you. Since you can not be there at that moment, I try to prepare them as best we can, by providing comfortable clothes and supplies they will need during the year. This summer was great, very relaxing which was our goal. The stress factor did not exist during our summer break, and our goal this year is to also have a stress free school year.
What kind of summer activities did you plan for your family. I would love to hear about them. Kindly drop me a note at the message area below.

Usually check local library for fun free activities. Also local churches have music programs kids groups. Local nature centers usually have birdwalks etc. Check out Lowes and Home Depot for wood crafts. Hope this helps.
